NextEra Energy to sell 2 billion dollars in equity units
NextEra Energy is offering 2 billion dollars in equity units to fund power projects. The move supports grid upgrades as data centers drive record electricity use.
NextEra Energy, Inc. announced on Thursday its plan to conduct a public offering of $2 billion in equity units to fund various energy and power projects. This capital initiative comes at a time when utility providers across the United States are investing heavily to modernize the national electric grid, driven by record-high power consumption from the rapid expansion of data centers. The company expects to provide underwriters with an option to purchase an additional $300 million in units to cover any over-allotment. Following the announcement, shares of the utility saw a decline of nearly 1% in premarket trading. > Each equity unit will be issued at a value of $50, consisting of a contract to purchase NextEra Energy common stock within three years, the company said in a statement. The management of the offering involves several major financial institutions acting as joint book-running managers. These include Wells Fargo & Company, Bank of America Corporation, Citigroup Inc., and Mizuho Financial Group, Inc..
