Detroit-Windsor Bridge Set to Open Despite Trump Threats
The new $4.7 billion Gordie Howe International Bridge is expected to open to traffic on June 15, providing a vital economic link between Detroit and Windsor. Despite earlier threats from President Trump to block the opening over trade disputes, the project will soon ease congestion at the border.
The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority is completing the $4.7 billion Gordie Howe International Bridge for a scheduled opening by June 21. This new crossing provides a critical alternative to the Ambassador Bridge, which currently handles $126 billion in annual commercial truck trade. The project ensures a vital economic link remains stable despite recent trade disputes and tariff threats between the two nations.
### Detroit-Windsor Link Nears Completion A spokesperson for the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority said the project team is progressing toward an opening by June 21.
