South32 Limited , the Australia
AU-listed mining company, announced on Monday that it will place the Mozal aluminium smelter in Mozambique
MZ under care and maintenance by March. The decision follows the company's failure to secure a power agreement for the energy-intensive facility after protracted negotiations. This move is expected to result in a material one-off cost of $60 million for the firm.
