Mozambique Central Bank Cuts Policy Interest Rate to 9.25 Percent

This monetary policy action is expected to impact borrowing costs and liquidity conditions throughout the economy of Mozambique. The decision follows a previous move by the central bank in November, which also resulted in a 25-basis-point cut to the policy rate.
This latest reduction comes as the annual inflation rate in Mozambiqueslowed significantly to 3.23 percent in December, down from 4.38 percent in November. The December figure represents the lowest inflation level recorded in the country in 13 months. While current price pressures have eased, analysts at Oxford Economics predict that inflation will pick up as the year progresses.
