Middle East war disrupts Asian used vehicle exports
Middle East conflict has disrupted shipping routes and caused port congestion. Exporters in Japan and South Korea face delays and rising storage costs.
Recent military strikes by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran have ignited a logistics crisis across the Middle East, severely disrupting the global trade of used vehicles. The conflict has caused significant bottlenecks at major transit points, leaving hundreds of shipments from Japan and South Korea stranded at sea or diverted to alternative ports.
Umar Ali Hyder Ali, who operates the Yokohama-based Kobe Motor, recently discovered that a shipment of over 500 vehicles was unable to dock as planned. The cargo was redirected to Sri Lanka because primary regional hubs were overwhelmed by traffic diverted from the United Arab Emirates.
