Micron to Build Second Taiwan Chip Facility for AI Growth
Micron Technology will build a second facility at its new Tongluo site in Taiwan to expand DRAM production. Construction is set to begin by late fiscal 2026.
United States memory chipmaker Micron Technology, Inc. has announced plans to construct a second manufacturing facility in Taiwan at the Tongluo site it recently acquired from Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. The new facility is designed to expand the supply of leading-edge DRAM products, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), to support the surging demand for artificial intelligence. Micron confirmed it has completed the acquisition of the Tongluo P5 site and stated that the second facility would be of a similar scale to its existing plant in Miaoli County. > The new facility will help it expand supply of leading-edge DRAM products including high-bandwidth memory (HBM) to support surging AI demand. Construction of the new site is scheduled to begin by the end of fiscal 2026.
