Mexico March headline inflation likely rose to 4.63 percent
Mexico's headline inflation likely hit 4.63% in March while core prices eased to 4.46%. The data supports bets for further central bank interest rate cuts.
Headline inflation in Mexico likely accelerated for the third consecutive month in March, according to a recent Reuters poll. The projected rise in consumer prices comes as core inflation is expected to have declined, reinforcing expectations that the central bank will continue its cycle of interest rate cuts.
Estimates suggest that headline inflation in Latin America's second-largest economy reached 4.63% in March, up from 4.02% in February. This would mark the highest level since October 2024 and move the indicator further from the central bank's target of 3%, plus or minus one percentage point. However, core inflation, which excludes volatile items like food and energy, is expected to have fallen for a second month to 4.46%.
