Mexico economy exceeds forecasts with strongest quarterly growth in over a year

Mexico's economy grew 0.9 percent in the fourth quarter, marking its best performance in over a year. Analysts remain cautious about growth for 2026.

Mexico's economy expanded by 0.9% in the fourth quarter on a quarter-on-quarter basis, according to data released on February 23, 2026, by INEGI. This performance represents the strongest quarterly expansion for Mexico MXMX since the third quarter of 2024. The final figure surpassed both the preliminary estimate provided by the national statistics agency and the expectations of economists in a Reuters poll, both of which had forecasted growth of 0.8%.
