MercadoLibre Plans 3.4 Billion Dollar Argentina Investment
The firm will increase its spending by 30% to expand logistics and fintech services. It also plans to hire nearly 2,000 new employees in Argentina this year.
The e-commerce and fintech leader MercadoLibre, Inc. has announced a major capital commitment to Argentina, with plans to invest $3.4 billion throughout 2026. This figure represents a 30% increase from the $2.6 billion the company had previously projected for its 2025 investment cycle.
Chief Executive Officer Ariel Szarfsztejn unveiled the expansion plans during an event in the United States on Wednesday. Although the company was founded in the South American nation, it is currently based in neighboring Uruguay. The new disbursement, which includes both capital and operating expenses, will be used to expand the firm's logistics network, develop new distribution centers, and improve the technology powering its platform.
