Judge orders GE Vernova to continue Vineyard Wind work
A Suffolk County Superior Court judge ruled that GE Vernova must continue servicing the 806-megawatt offshore wind farm despite a payment dispute with Vineyard Wind. The court found that allowing the turbine supplier to exit the project would jeopardize financing and operational viability.
GE VERNOVA INC must continue work on the $4.5 billion Vineyard Wind project following a court ruling in the United States. A Massachusetts judge on Monday rejected the turbine supplier's bid to exit the contract or move the dispute to arbitration. The decision secures the operational stability of New England's largest offshore wind farm amid a $360 million payment standoff.
### Court Mandates Project Continuity Suffolk County Superior Court Judge Peter Krupp ruled that Vineyard Wind is contractually permitted to seek court relief to prevent irreparable harm. The developer, a joint venture between Spain-based IBERDROLA SA and Denmark's Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, argued that a GE Vernova exit would threaten the commercial viability of the 806-megawatt site. The project relies on the expertise of more than 200 GE Vernova employees and subcontractors to reach full capacity.
