DEUTSCHE LUFTHANSA-REG narrowed its first-quarter adjusted operating loss to 612 million euros ($717 million) as reported on Wednesday morning. The result beat the 659 million euro loss projected by a company-compiled analyst poll and improved from the 722 million euro loss recorded last year. Strategic fuel hedging and controlled labor costs are protecting margins despite rising kerosene prices and Middle East volatility.
