Lufthansa reports 2 billion euro operating profit for 2025
Lufthansa reported a 2 billion euro operating profit for 2025, beating analyst forecasts. The group warned of a murky 2026 outlook due to Middle East tensions.
Deutsche Lufthansa AG reported 2025 financial results that exceeded market expectations, driven by disciplined cost management and a strategic fleet renewal. The national carrier of Germany posted an adjusted operating profit of 2 billion euros ($2.32 billion) for the fiscal year. This figure surpassed the 1.9 billion euros anticipated by analysts in a company-compiled poll and marked a significant increase from the 1.6 billion euros recorded in 2024. The group's operating profit margin improved to 4.9%, up from 4.4% in the previous year. While the company aims to reach a target margin of 8% to 10% between 2028 and 2030, recent labor disruptions have complicated this trajectory. Specifically, a strike on February 12 highlighted the ongoing challenges in mitigating lost profits due to industrial action. Looking ahead to 2026, the airline described the outlook as murky, citing persistent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Despite the uncertainty, the group expects a 4% increase in capacity alongside continued growth in both revenue and profit margins.
