LLOYDS BANKING GROUP PLC, a British lender, posted a 33% rise in first-quarter statutory pre-tax profit to £2 billion. This result beat the £1.84 billion average estimate from analysts and rose from £1.52 billion in the same period last year. Increased lending income offset a £151 million charge linked to economic risks from the conflict in Iran.
