Lebanese President Calls for Peace Talks With Israel
President Joseph Aoun appealed to the Israeli government to choose negotiations over war and proposed a non-aggression pact to end the ongoing conflict. He criticized Iran for using Lebanon as a bargaining chip and stated that Lebanese citizens are dying to serve Iranian interests.
Lebanon President Joseph Aoun proposed a non-aggression pact to Israel to end a conflict that has killed more than 3,600 people. The proposal follows nearly 3,500 Israeli strikes since the United States declared a ceasefire on April 16. President Aoun stated that Lebanese citizens are being killed to serve the interests of Iran.
President Aoun told CNN that a military solution cannot provide security. Joseph Aoun invited the Israeli government to the negotiating table to establish a lasting cessation of hostilities.
