Korean Air to Purchase 103 Boeing Jets for 36.2 Billion

The flag carrier of South Korea, Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd., has announced a significant fleet expansion involving the purchase of 103 aircraft from The Boeing Company. According to a regulatory filing released on Thursday, the acquisition is scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2039. The total value of the deal is estimated at $36.2 billion, based on 2025 list prices. The massive order includes 20 B777-9s, 25 B787-10s, 50 B737-10s, and eight B777-8F freighters. This strategic investment is designed to modernize the airline's existing fleet while enhancing its long-haul and short-haul capabilities. The inclusion of the B777-8F models also highlights a continued focus on the global air cargo market, ensuring the carrier maintains its competitive edge in logistics. The multi-year delivery schedule provides a long-term roadmap for the airline's growth and operational efficiency through the next decade.
