KKR raises 23 billion dollars for North America fund
KKR raised 23 billion dollars for its largest North America private equity fund. This capital will target opportunistic investments across the entire region.
The investment firm KKR & CO INC announced on Thursday that it has successfully raised $23 billion for its newest North America-focused private equity fund. This capital raise marks the largest fund the firm has ever dedicated to the region, signaling robust investor appetite for private market opportunities as businesses choose to remain private for longer periods to circumvent public market volatility. The new vehicle, known as KKR North America Fund XIV, or NAX4, is designed to target opportunistic private equity investments across the continent. This latest fund follows a period of strong performance for the firm's regional strategy; over the last decade, the three predecessor funds to NAX4 achieved a gross return of 23%. The successful fundraising effort has contributed to a significant expansion of the firm's footprint. KKR's private equity assets under management have climbed to approximately $229 billion, a figure that has roughly doubled since 2020. This growth comes as high-profile companies, such as OpenAI and the prediction market platform Kalshi, opt to remain private while continuing to secure billions in funding. According to a statement from the firm, the fund attracted a diverse group of both new and existing investors. The participant base includes public and private pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, and private wealth platforms.
