Keurig Dr Pepper Names Rafael Oliveira Coffee Unit Head
Keurig Dr Pepper named Rafael Oliveira head of its coffee unit amid an $18 billion takeover. The firm will split into two public companies by the end of 2026.
KEURIG DR PEPPER INC has appointed Rafael Oliveira as the chief executive officer of its coffee operating unit as the company moves to finalize its $18 billion acquisition of the Netherlands-based JDE PEET'S NV. The all-cash takeover, first announced in August last year, is designed to help the beverage giant compete more effectively against industry leader Nestle and address rising commodity expenses. Following the merger, the combined business is expected to be reorganized into two separate, publicly traded companies headquartered in the United States, with one focusing on global coffee operations and the other on beverage brands. Oliveira, who currently serves as the CEO of the Dutch coffee firm, will transition to lead the future global coffee company after the planned separation. In his new role as coffee unit chief, he will report to Tim Cofer, the current head of Keurig, who is slated to become the CEO of the future beverage entity. This leadership update follows a shift in strategy from last year, when Sudhanshu Priyadarshi was originally named to lead the coffee business before being replaced by former MATTEL INC CFO Anthony DiSilvestro in November. The corporate split is projected to be completed by the end of the year, and shares of the Dutch coffee and tea company are scheduled to be delisted from Euronext Amsterdam on April 30, 2026.
