JetBlue CEO rules out bankruptcy despite high fuel costs
CEO Joanna Geraghty told staff the airline is not considering bankruptcy this year despite rising fuel prices. The firm has secured $500 million in financing.
JETBLUE AIRWAYS CORP Chief Executive Joanna Geraghty has dismissed concerns regarding a potential bankruptcy filing this year, according to an internal memo sent to employees. Despite the financial strain caused by escalating fuel costs linked to the conflict in Iran, the airline maintains that its recovery plan remains on track.
The aviation industry is currently grappling with a significant surge in jet fuel prices following military strikes involving the United States and Israel. These actions have disrupted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical corridor for global energy supplies. The resulting volatility has impacted global benchmarks including Brent Crude Oil and West Texas Oil, delivering the most substantial economic shock to the sector since the pandemic.
