Wholesale inflation in Japan jumped in March, leading the BANK OF JAPAN/THE to emphasize the need for vigilance against stagflation risks. This surge in price pressure has increased market expectations that the central bank may move to raise interest rates as early as late April. Data released on Friday showed the corporate goods price index (CGPI), which measures the costs companies charge each other for goods and services, rose 2.6% year-on-year. This figure exceeded the median market forecast of 2.4% and marked an acceleration from the revised 2.1% recorded in February.
