Italy and Germany agree to secure critical mineral supply chains and reduce reliance on China

Italy and Germany have signed a partnership to secure raw material supply chains. The deal targets chips and defense sectors to counter Chinese price control.

The agreement was documented in a draft seen by Reuters and discussed at an intergovernmental summit in Rome on January 23, 2026.
