Irish Retail Sales Increase by 3% Annually in January
Irish retail sales grew 3% annually in January marking the fastest pace in four months. Sales volumes rose 1.5% from December despite a dip in non-motor trade.
Retail activity in Ireland experienced a significant boost at the start of the year, with sales volumes climbing by 1.5% in January compared to the previous month. On an annual basis, retail sales jumped by 3%, marking the strongest year-on-year growth recorded in four months, according to provisional data released on Friday. The Central Statistics Office (CSO) noted that the performance was heavily influenced by the automotive sector. When excluding motor trades, sales volumes slipped 0.4% on the month and rose 2.1% year-on-year, maintaining a positive annual trend despite the monthly dip.
