Iran expanded its definition of the Strait of Hormuz to a 300-mile operational zone, roughly a tenfold increase from the previous 20 to 30-mile estimates to the new 200 to 300-mile range. This is the second maritime expansion since conflict began with the United States and Israel. The shift threatens about a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies passing through the gateway.
