IonQ Inc. announced today, January 26, 2026, that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire SkyWater Technology Inc. for approximately $1.8 billion. This cash-and-stock transaction is designed to bring semiconductor manufacturing in-house to secure the company's supply chain and speed up the creation of next-generation quantum processors. Under the terms of the agreement, shareholders of SkyWater Technology Inc.will receive $15 in cash and $20 in IonQ Inc.stock per share, representing a 12% premium over the manufacturer's last closing price.
The deal is expected to close in either the second or third quarter of 2026. Following the completion of the transaction, SkyWater Technology Inc.will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of the parent firm.
