Indra Chairman Angel Escribano Resigns After Failed Deal
Indra Chairman Angel Escribano resigned on Wednesday after his company withdrew from an acquisition deal. The exit follows concerns over a conflict of interest.
The executive chairman of the prominent defense contractor INDRA SISTEMAS SA has stepped down following a collapsed business deal involving his private engineering firm. Spain-based Indra announced on Wednesday that Angel Escribano submitted his resignation from his roles as both executive chairman and director of the company. The departure comes exactly two weeks after Escribano Mechanical and Engineering (EM&E), a company owned by the outgoing chairman, withdrew from a potential acquisition process initiated by Indra. The deal was reportedly scrapped to avoid a significant conflict of interest between the two entities. Indra confirmed the leadership change in a formal statement, marking a sudden shift for the defense firm. While the company did not elaborate further on the succession plan, the move follows heightened scrutiny regarding the relationship between Indra's corporate strategy and the private interests of its senior leadership.
