India's GAIL Issues Tender for March LNG Cargo Delivery
GAIL is seeking a March LNG cargo as Middle East conflict impacts shipping. The distributor may curb supplies after a force majeure notice from Petronet LNG.
GAIL (India) Limited has issued a tender to purchase a cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for delivery later this month. The move follows significant disruptions in the Middle East that have hampered shipping lanes and impacted production from Qatar.
Industry sources indicate that the tender is for a cargo to be delivered between March 15 and March 25, with the bidding process set to close on March 9. The supply crunch comes at a critical time for India, which ranks as the fourth-largest importer of LNG globally. Several domestic industries have already begun to feel the impact of the conflict as the nation rations available energy resources.
