India March Retail Inflation Quickens to 3.40 Percent
India's retail inflation rose to 3.40% in March from 3.21% in February. The figure was lower than the 3.48% rate projected by analysts in a Reuters poll.
Retail price inflation in India accelerated to 3.40% on a year-over-year basis in March, according to official government data released in New Delhi on Monday. This figure represents a slight increase from the 3.21% recorded in February, indicating a modest uptick in consumer price pressures across the nation. The reported 3.40% inflation rate came in lower than market expectations. A poll conducted by Reuters had previously projected that retail inflation would reach 3.48% for the month of March. Despite the acceleration compared to the previous month, the final data suggests that price growth remains slightly below the anticipated trajectory forecasted by economists.
