India has proposed a series of amendments to its companies law designed to allow certain firms to undertake two share buybacks per year and to simplify the procedures for fast-track mergers and acquisitions. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the lower house of parliament on Monday, aiming to promote the ease of doing business while simplifying compliance and regulations. The bill will become law once it is approved by both houses of parliament.
