India postpones trade talks with United States following Supreme Court tariff ruling
New Delhi postponed a trade trip to Washington today amid tariff uncertainty. The move follows a court ruling and a new 15 percent levy on US imports.
India
IN has delayed a planned India trade delegation to Washington as of February 22, 2026, due to mounting uncertainty after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down tariffs previously imposed by President Donald Trump. The decision by the India trade ministry to postpone the visit interrupts ongoing efforts to finalize an interim trade deal/framework that would have reduced U.S. punitive tariffs from 25% to 18%. This development stands as one of the first concrete reactions from an Asian nation to the court's judgment and follows a near-immediate U.S. government announcement regarding temporary tariffs.
