India plans to restart trade talks with United States after tariff uncertainty clears

India plans to resume trade talks with the U.S. once tariff levels are clarified. This follows a cancelled trip to Washington amid shifting trade policies.

The Government of India ININ has announced that it will resume talks on a proposed trade agreement with the Government of the United States USUS only after there is greater clarity regarding U.S. tariffs. This decision follows a period of significant volatility in the trade sector, triggered by a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that invalidated emergency tariffs previously imposed by President Donald Trump. Following the judicial decision, President Trump announced the implementation of temporary duties, a move that has complicated the negotiated tariff-reduction framework between the two countries.
