India weighs extending petrochemical import tax relief
India may extend import tax exemptions on 40 petrochemicals beyond June 30. The move aims to support local industries facing shortages due to regional conflict.
India is considering extending import tax exemptions on 40 petrochemical products beyond June 30 to support local plastic and pharmaceutical manufacturers. The commerce ministry suspended these duties in April to mitigate supply shortages triggered by the Iran war. Continued tax relief would lower input costs for Indian industrial firms.
