India approved 29 electronics projects worth 751 million dollars. The move targets mobile and automotive parts to reach a 500 billion dollar output by 2031.
The government of India has officially approved 29 manufacturing proposals under its electronics component incentive program, representing a total investment of 71.04 billion rupees ($751.21 million). The Electronics and Information Technology Ministry announced the move on Monday as part of a strategic push to attract global and domestic investors, expand local production capacity, and fortify supply chains against import dependencies.
India's electronics manufacturing sector has seen significant growth, producing goods valued at $125 billion in the fiscal year ending March 2025. Government officials aim to scale this output to $500 billion by fiscal 2031. The newly approved projects cover a broad spectrum of industries, including mobile manufacturing, telecommunications, consumer electronics, automotive components, and hardware products.
