The government of India ININhas announced a series of tariff cuts on capital goods and raw materials as part of its annual national budget to bolster domestic manufacturing. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman nirmala sitharamanstated that Indiawill reduce the duty on capital goods essential for processing critical minerals and manufacturing lithium-ion battery cells. These measures come as the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi narendra modiseeks to enhance manufacturing competitiveness and reduce reliance on foreign processing for key energy-transition inputs.
