India and Peru will resume free trade talks in June, with a deal potentially signed by the end of the year. Peru, the world's third-largest copper producer, is negotiating a critical minerals chapter to secure India's industrial supply chains. India's copper demand is expected to climb to 3 to 3.3 million tons by 2030.
Peruvian ambassador Javier Paulinich said both nations plan to resume negotiations in June. The talks include a specific focus on critical minerals to support India's manufacturing expansion. Peru produced 2.7 million metric tons of copper in 2024.
