IG Group Mulls Domicile Shift and Strategic Acquisitions
The British trading firm is reviewing its domicile and listing venues after record annual revenue. The process may include acquisitions and industry tie-ups.
The United Kingdom-based financial services firm IG Group Holdings plc has initiated a comprehensive strategic review that could lead to significant changes in its corporate structure, including potential acquisitions and a shift in its domicile or listing venue. The move comes as the spread betting specialist seeks to capitalize on a rapidly evolving market landscape defined by technological disruption and the convergence of trading, investing, and gaming-adjacent sectors. For the fiscal year ending December 2025, the company reported record annual revenue of 1.12 billion pounds ($1.49 billion), representing a 7% increase over the previous year. This growth was bolstered by heightened market volatility and geopolitical tensions, which typically encourage investors to increase trading activity and rebalance portfolios across various asset classes. The firm, which operates several high-profile brands including tastytrade and Freetrade, indicated that the review will also explore possible industry tie-ups to further its reach in fast-growing global markets. IG Group Holdings plc expects to provide a formal update on the findings of this strategic review in autumn 2026. In the interim, the company anticipates that its organic total revenue growth for 2026 will align with the upper end of its mid-to-high single-digit percentage target range, as it continues to leverage its position in the contracts for difference, equity, and cryptocurrency markets.
