Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission warned licensed firms on Tuesday afternoon of AI-driven cyberattacks, which rose 27% to 15,877 incidents in 2025. The regulator specifically flagged risks for internet brokers and virtual asset-trading platforms following a rise from 12,536 incidents in 2024. The Securities and Futures Commission warned that AI lowers barriers for malicious actors to exploit vulnerabilities and launch large-scale phishing.
