Hershey Beats Q1 Estimates as GLP-1 Users Buy More Mints
Hershey beat Q1 estimates with $3.10 billion in sales as GLP-1 users boosted mint demand. Strong sales of healthy snacks offset lower confectionery volumes.
HERSHEY CO/THE reported first-quarter net sales of $3.10B, beating the $3.03B LSEG estimate. Adjusted EPS reached $2.35, exceeding the $2.04 forecast as GLP-1 drug adoption drives demand for mints and healthier snacks. Investors are tracking how weight-loss medication shifts consumer behavior from traditional confectionery toward functional snacking and breath-care products.
CEO Kirk Tanner said GLP-1 drugs are changing food and beverage purchasing patterns. Hershey is pivoting toward "functional snacking" to meet these evolving health and lifestyle needs. Retail sales for the Ice Breakers brand rose 8% during the quarter.
