Haleon invests 65 million pounds in China expansion
Haleon is investing 65 million pounds in a new Shanghai plant to expand its oral health business. The firm aims to reach 30 cities by 2027 with local products.
Haleon plc is accelerating its expansion into China, focusing on second- and third-tier cities and customizing its oral-health products to align with local consumer preferences. This strategic move comes as several other prominent Western brands struggle with declining sales and intense competition in the world's second-largest economy. While companies like Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, Pernod Ricard S.A., and NIKE, Inc. have reported softening demand, Haleon is increasing its commitment with a 65 million pound ($87 million) investment in a new manufacturing plant located in Shanghai.
CEO Brian McNamara stated that the company aims to introduce its Parodontax brand to more than 30 cities by the end of 2027. He noted that the market presents a significant opportunity for growth, particularly given the prevalence of dental health concerns among the local population.
