Greece to impose 15 percent tax on cryptocurrency gains
The Greek Finance Ministry is drafting legislation to tax cryptocurrency profits at a fifteen percent rate. The new framework will include a five hundred euro tax-free threshold and applies to corporate mining activities as the government seeks to formalize the digital asset market.
Greece is preparing legislation to impose a 15% capital gains tax on cryptocurrencies to establish a formal legal framework for the digital asset sector. The Finance Ministry proposal follows varying European tax rates ranging from 8% in Cyprus to 30% in France. Two government sources told Reuters the move aims to integrate digital assets into the national tax code.
