Global Stocks Rise and Oil Falls on Ceasefire Reports
Global equity markets rose and oil prices fell on Wednesday following reports that the U.S. proposed a month-long ceasefire to Iran. Brent crude dropped 6%.
Global equity markets advanced and energy prices pulled back on Wednesday as reports emerged that the United States is seeking a month-long ceasefire in its ongoing conflict with Iran. Following the news, S&P 500 futures climbed 0.9% and European futures rose 1.2%. Financial markets responded positively to reports of a 15-point settlement proposal sent to Tehran, which raised expectations for a potential resumption of oil exports from the Persian Gulf. Brent Crude Oil futures dropped approximately 6% to settle near $98.30 per barrel, while Gold gained 1.6% as investors recalibrated positions.
In the Asia-Pacific region, stock indices in Australia, South Korea, and Japan all climbed by about 2% during morning trade.
