SEMI chief executive Ajit Manocha urged Southeast Asian nations to expand semiconductor fabrication capacity to diversify global supply chains and mitigate geopolitical risks. Only six of the 64 new plants expected to open in Asia by 2029 are located in the region. This concentration of manufacturing in North Asia leaves the $600B industry vulnerable to localized disruptions and trade restrictions.
