Ghana slashes farmgate cocoa prices and unveils new financing model to support industry
Ghana cut farmgate cocoa prices today and launched a bond-based financing model. The move aims to stabilize the sector as global demand and prices decline.
The Ghana
GH government has announced a significant 28.6% reduction in the fixed farmgate cocoa price, lowering it to 41,392 cedis per metric ton as part of a broader overhaul of the sector's financial framework. This decision, announced on February 12, 2026, coincides with the introduction of a new financing model that will rely on domestic cocoa bonds to fund purchases. These measures are intended to address the fiscal challenges within the Ghanaian cocoa sector following a sharp decline in international market values.
