Vonovia returns to profit with 4.19 billion euro result
Germany's largest landlord reported a 4.19 billion euro profit for 2025 after three years of losses. The group remains cautious about higher financing costs.
Vonovia SE, the largest residential landlord in Germany, has reported a return to profitability for the 2025 fiscal year, marking a significant turnaround following three consecutive years of losses during the nation's most severe property market downturn in decades. The real estate giant posted a profit of 4.19 billion euros ($4.81 billion) for 2025, a sharp contrast to the 962.3 million euro loss recorded in the previous year. The recovery signals a stabilizing environment for the residential property sector, which has faced significant pressure from rising interest rates and shifting market dynamics. Despite the positive results, the company remains cautious regarding the broader economic landscape. While maintaining its financial guidance for 2026 and its outlook for 2028, leadership noted that rising costs continue to be a factor. New CEO Luka Mucic emphasized the need for vigilance in the coming years. > But the fact of the matter is that we have to be mindful of the headwind from higher financing expenses.
