Germany's VDA auto association urged the United States and European Union to honour their existing trade agreement after President Donald Trump announced a tariff hike on cars from the EU on Friday.
VDA President Hildegard Mueller called for swift negotiations between the U.S. and EU to prevent a trade escalation. Mueller said the cost of these additional tariffs would be enormous for the industry and would likely impact consumers in the U.S. as well.
