France warns crypto firms to get EU licences by June 30
France warns crypto firms they face prosecution if they lack EU licences by June 30. The AMF urged companies to finalize applications under MiCA rules.
France will prosecute and blacklist crypto firms that fail to secure European Union licenses by June 30. The warning follows the full rollout of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation across the 27-nation bloc. Regulators across the EU are tightening oversight of crypto operations while the United States eases digital asset restrictions.
### Enforcement Risks for Unlicensed Operators The Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) warned that firms without authorization must implement orderly wind-down plans immediately. Marie-Anne Barbat-Layani, president of the AMF, told journalists on Thursday that finalizing license applications has become urgent. Companies continuing to solicit EU customers without a permit after the June deadline will face enforcement actions and potential criminal prosecution.
