France 2025 Budget Deficit Falls to 5.1 Percent of GDP

France reduced its budget deficit to 5.1 percent in 2025 as growth exceeded forecasts. The result is better than the official government target of 5.4 percent.

France successfully reduced its public sector budget deficit beyond initial expectations in 2025, as economic growth surpassed earlier forecasts. According to the latest figures from the national statistics agency INSEE, the fiscal shortfall for the year was recorded at 5.1% of economic output.
