Fincantieri Profit Rises Fourfold on Underwater Growth
The Italian shipbuilder reported a 2025 profit of 117 million euros as its underwater division surged. The company confirmed its 2026 financial targets.
The Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A. reported a substantial increase in annual profit for 2025, driven by a massive expansion in its underwater operations. The state-controlled company, headquartered in Italy, saw its net profit jump more than fourfold to reach 117 million euros ($136 million). Following the announcement, shares in the Trieste-based firm climbed as much as 7.5% as investors reacted to the strong financial results.

The company's performance was significantly bolstered by its underwater business segment, which recorded an 88% increase in revenue over the year. Fincantieri is currently pivoting toward high-margin naval programs and the defense sector as part of a broader strategy to improve profitability, reduce debt, and reposition the group for future growth.
We are preparing to capture further growth in demand in the defense sector, by doubling the production capacity of Italian shipyards.
Looking ahead, the group reiterated its financial targets for 2026, which include revenue between 9.2 billion and 9.3 billion euros and a core profit (EBITDA) margin of approximately 7.5%. The shipbuilder also expects continued growth in net profit. This optimism is supported by a robust order intake, which reached 20.3 billion euros last year, representing a 32% increase compared to 2024 figures. While defense remains a priority, the company continues to benefit from a recovery in the cruise ship market, balancing its portfolio across multiple maritime sectors.
