FedEx Debuts Same-Day Local Delivery Service With OneRail
FedEx launched a same-day delivery service today with OneRail to speed up order fulfillment. The system offers two-hour windows using 1,000 delivery providers.
FedEx Corporation has officially launched a same-day delivery service in the United States, partnering with last-mile logistics software company OneRail to meet the growing demand for rapid order fulfillment. The new service, known as FedEx SameDay Local, allows retail customers to select specific delivery windows, including two-hour and end-of-day options.

The logistics giant connects its customers to a national network of more than 1,000 delivery providers through an automated system that matches orders with the nearest available driver and vehicle. This move is part of a broader industry trend where logistics firms and retailers are heavily investing in last-mile networks to provide more flexible and faster delivery solutions.
The launch comes amid heightened competition in the delivery sector. Earlier this month, Amazon.com, Inc. expanded its shipping capabilities by offering one-hour and three-hour delivery windows in various American markets. Similarly, major retailers such as Walmart Inc. and Target Corporation have been aggressively expanding their own same-day and next-day shipping services to keep pace with consumer expectations.
FedEx indicated that this new service strengthens its ability to support clients across the entire supply chain, bridging the gap between long-haul transportation and local, final-mile fulfillment.
