High Petrol Prices Boost European Used EV Market Sales
High fuel costs from the Iran war are boosting used EV sales in Europe. Platforms report a shift from petrol to electric models as pump prices continue to rise.
Rising fuel costs triggered by the conflict in Iran are significantly boosting the second-hand electric vehicle market throughout Europe. Online automotive platforms report that the spike in petrol prices is accelerating a consumer shift away from internal combustion engines, with electric models now outperforming traditional fuel types in several regions.
In Norway, analysts at the country's largest used-car marketplace, Finn.no, indicate that electric vehicles have recently surpassed diesel models as the most popular fuel type on the platform. This trend follows a 12% increase in average European Union petrol prices, which reached 1.84 euros per litre in mid-March after disruptions to global oil supply routes.
