European Rooftop Solar Demand Surges Amid Energy Crisis
European households are turning to rooftop solar to lower bills amid the Iran war. Demand has doubled for some firms as consumers seek energy resilience.
European households are doubling rooftop solar orders to hedge against record energy prices triggered by the Iran conflict. This surge follows a 2025 installation slowdown. Investors are pricing in a structural shift as energy independence becomes a national security priority across Europe.
Solarhandel24 reported that net sales more than tripled in March to nearly 70 million euros ($82 million) from a year earlier. Solarhandel24 expects April sales to triple again this month to as much as 60 million euros. Co-founder Janik Nolden said Solarhandel24 will hire roughly a third of its workforce—about 85 new workers—to manage the order volume. The company projects net sales could rise to around 400 million euros in 2026 from about 250 million euros last year.
