EU Approves 23 Billion Euro Italian Renewable Aid Plan
The European Commission has authorized a 23 billion euro Italian state aid scheme to support renewable electricity production through 20-year contracts for difference. This measure aims to help Italy achieve its 2030 target of sourcing nearly 40 percent of its gross electricity consumption from renewables.
The European Commission approved a €23B ($27B) state aid scheme for Italy to fund renewable electricity production. The program targets a 39.4% share of gross final electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2030. This capital injection aims to bridge Italy's clean energy gap and reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels.
